My Happiness Project – Month 1

After reading Gretchen Rubin’s “The Happiness Project” I have decided that in my self-development journey this year I will begin my own project.  It is really a mix of Gretchen’s ideas, Habit Stacking, Miracle Morning and internal reflection. But in the spirit of vulnerability and sharing, here’s what I am working on this month…

Happiness Project Month 1

What makes me happy, not what should make me happy.
 January 2018 – Self Care

Focus: Do those things I know (or suspect) will help put me in a positive physical and emotional state.

Resolutions:

-Perfect morning routine
-Move More
-Breathe in a quiet moment
-Fruit or Veggie at every meal
-What Not to Wear
Some of these may need a bit of explanation.  My morning routine could use some adjustments and I am going back to the SAVERs in Miracle Morning – many of my resolutions will be wrapped into this idea.

Move More – notice I didn’t say exercise, lose weight, etc.  I honestly just want to move more.  In my mind, if I am aiming to move more today, than I did yesterday – the rest will follow.

Breathe in a quiet moment (mediation and reflection).  Taking the time to be fully present and aware is going to take practice, but I want to enjoy the process, enjoy the moment.  We can’t change yesterday, and tomorrow isn’t here yet.  All we have is today.

Fruit or Veggie at every meal.  Sounds simple enough – not much explanation needed here.

What not to wear – Wardrobe makeover.  Declutter/organize the closet.  Get rid of items I do not utilize.  Limit the choices to only good, quality, likable items.

I will check back in at the end of the month to let you know how I did.  In the meantime, share with me any ideas you may have for your new year resolutions!
